Admissions 2021/22 Consultation

The Local Governing Body of The Hathershaw College is currently determining proposed admission arrangements for September 2021.

The School Admissions Code requires us to consult on these arrangements where there have been any proposed changes or where there has been no consultation for 7 years.

The policy has been amended to reflect that we are now part of The Pinnacle Learning Trust, alongside Werneth Primary School and Oldham Sixth Form College and that priority for admission will be given to those students attending primary schools within our Trust.

The proposed oversubscription criteria is detailed below:

Criterion 1: Children in care or children who have at any time been in care, including adopted children.

Criterion 2: Children applying from one of our named partner primary schools in The Pinnacle Learning Trust and who have a sibling attending The Hathershaw College at the time of application, with a reasonable expectation that the sibling will be attending the College at the start of the new academic year.

Criterion 3: Children applying from our named partner primary schools within The Pinnacle Learning Trust.

Criterion 4: Children with a sibling attending The Hathershaw College at the time of application and with a reasonable expectation that they will be attending at the start of the new academic year.

Criterion 5: Children applying from one of our named partner primary schools in West Oldham Trust

*Students attending Broadfield Primary School, as the only full member of West Oldham Trust, will have priority for admission over Holy Rosary and St Martins Primary School. In the event of oversubscription in this criterion, priority will then be determined by the proximity of the child’s home to The Hathershaw College based on post codes.

Criterion 6: Children living in closest geographical proximity to the school

Tie-breaker - In the event of oversubscription in any category above priority will be determined by the proximity of the child’s home to The Hathershaw College based on post codes. Apartments in the same block will be treated equally. If there are more applications than places available from the block furthest away a further tie-breaker of Random Allocation will be used for the applications from this block.
