The Spectacular Triumph of Bugsy Malone
Hathershaw College proudly announces the resounding success of its whole school production, "Bugsy Malone," performed at Oldham Sixth Form College. The show captivated audiences with performances held on Tuesday 19th November 2024 with a special matinee for Year 5 students from the Pinnacle Trust primary schools: Broadfield, Werneth, and Alexandra Park, followed by exhilarating evening shows on 20th and 21st November 2024.
This production showcased the extraordinary talents of 30 student actors who brought the world of Bugsy Malone to life with vibrant energy and skill. The event was a true community effort, featuring the collaboration of students and staff in various capacities. Students and staff managed front-of-house operations and contributed to the hair and makeup preparations. In a touching display of ongoing community ties, several alumni returned to assist backstage, highlighting the lasting impact of Hathershaw College on its students.
Over 20 staff members lent their expertise in set and prop creation, programme design, costume sourcing, and stage management, ensuring every detail was meticulously crafted. The set and costumes transported the audience straight into the roaring 20s.
A particular highlight was the 9-piece band that delivered an outstanding musical accompaniment, elevating the dynamic choreography staged by the talented performers. Together, they created a spellbinding atmosphere that was nothing short of professional.
At the helm of this spectacular production was Mrs. Lott, the director and producer, who shared her thoughts: "I am immeasurably proud of the funny, entertaining, and professional performance our students delivered. We witnessed amazing singers, dancers, and actors on stage, exemplifying all-round excellence. It was truly a professional production in every sense, and it showcased the talent and hard work of all involved."
