Prison Me No Way
On Monday 27th November, we had Prison Me No Way in school, who spent the day with Year 9. Prison Me No Way is a children and young person's charity that provides real-life learning experiences for children and young people to help reduce risky behaviour and prevent them from being involved in crime. Pupils spent the day off timetable and engaged in workshops themed around relevant crime and risky behaviour to prevent pupils from getting involved in them. Workshops included county lines, domestic abuse, network rail, gangs and more.
The day was themed around choices and emphasised the importance of making the right choice and staying away from crime. Pupils looked at real life cases and the impact that crime had on a person's life. They looked at the consequences of crime, and even had the opportunity to take a look at the inside of a mobile prison cell. Ex-prisoners spoke to pupils about their experiences and the impact of their choices on their life.
Social media and the internet, along with peer pressure, puts young people at an increased risk of falling into crime. The aim of the event is to prepare children for the modern day challenges that they may face.
