Further Free School Meals update

The Government has now decided that they will continue to fund free school meals over the Easter holiday.  If your child is entitled to free school meals, please look at for these vouchers in the post.  Vouchers for after Easter will be sent out towards the end of next week.  They may look different to vouchers that you have received previously as they have been issued as part of a national programme and funded directly by the Department for Education.

I have been made aware of some ‘scams’ regarding free school meals where fraudsters are targeting families by text or email and asking them for their bank details so that school can make a transfer of funds to them.  Please delete any such messages as they are fake.

Easter holiday update

School is now closed for the Easter holidays other than to a small number of children.  If you are looking for something to do, please visit our 'Easter Zones' with interesting tasks and activities for children and their families

GCSE Results 2020 update

The Government has now released a statement about how this year's GCSE results will be awarded  Mr Giles is also in the process of sending a letter to parents of  Year 11 students to explain the process.

Easter opening

The College will remain open during the Easter holiday starting on Monday 6th April for students with an EHCP, those with a social worker and those from families where a parent/carer is employed in a job considered critical to the COVID-19 response.    We will, however, be closed on Friday 10th April and Monday 13th April, both of whuich are bank holidays. If your child is in one of the groups outlined above and you wish them to attend school, please email Mrs Goodwin by Wednesday 1st April in the first instance.  However, if you are able to keep your child at home, you should do so.

Enforced school closure

As a result of a decision taken by Government to reduce the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the school is now closed to most students.  We remain open for students with an EHCP and those with a social worker.  In addition, students may attend school if they are from a family where a parent or carer is employed in an area considered vital to the COVID-19 response.  However, the Government have also stated "If you are able to keep your child at home, you should."

A list of job roles regarded as critical to the COVID-19 response can be found by clicking on the following link Guidance for schools, colleges and local authorities on maintaining educational provision.

If you are employed in a job that is considered critical to the COVID-19 response as per the Government’s list and wish your child to attend school, please contact us at informing us of:

  • Your child’s name and year group
  • A phone number on which to contact you
  • Your job role and name of employer

We are requesting this information to ensure we have sufficient capacity to supervise the children.  Only children whose parents/carers have notified the College in advance may attend school.  There is also no need for students to wear uniform if attending.

Working from home:

All students should be working from home and emailing their teachers if they need help and support.  Teachers will do their best to respond between the hours of 9.00am - 3.00pm.  If your child doesn't have access to a computer or is without broadband Internet, please could you notify their Year Manager who will put arrangements in place for a paper-based study pack to be sent in the post.

Parents or carers of children in receipt of Free School Meals should by now have received Tesco vouchers through the post to the value of £3 per child per day up until the Easter holidays.

The reason schools are closing is in line with the social distancing guidance.  It is therefore important to note that children, whilst they are not in school, should not be socialising in groups either at home or in the community.  Please ensure that your child acts responsibly.

Many thanks for your on-going support.

Mr Giles
