Homework

Homework Information

At Hathershaw, the aim is to promote learning at home as an essential part of good education. Homework not only reinforces classroom learning, it also helps children and young people to develop skills and the attitudes they need for successful lifelong learning. It also supports the development of independent learning.

Homework will be set for all students. The work set will be appropriate to your age, ability and circumstances, taking into account special educational needs. Tasks will be set which are structured for their purpose.

Key Stage 3 Students (Years 7 & 8)

Homework will be set for you at least once a fortnight.

There is a Homework Club for Years 7 and 8 on Tuesday nights after school. For more information speak to your Form Tutor.

Key Stage 4 Students (Years 9, 10 & 11)

Homework is set in accordance with the completion of coursework or as revision and preparation for assessment. This should be at least once a fortnight for each subject but may be more regular. After school classes are also available for completion of coursework for KS4 students.

The quality and appropriateness of the homework tasks will be monitored by Curriculum Leaders.
